Background to the procurement The Linnarsson Lab (KI) at the Department of Medical Biophysics and Biochemistry studies brain development and brain architecture using single-cell analysis, live imaging and spatial transcriptomics. We are developing synthetic DNA vectors for gene therapy. Generating enough DNA requires amplification which is traditionally achieved by harnessing bacteria, a method that has the drawback of potentially triggering immunity in humans. To circumvent this, KI want to amplify DNA without the use of bacteria or other cells, using fully synthetic, enzymatic DNA amplification.
