Vattenfall Eldistribution has installed DCBs in its Power Grid over the past 25 years. The overall experience has been deemed positive with a low failure rate.  Another aspect taken into consideration in investment projects are the life cycle costs due to its low losses, reduced maintenance costs, lowered environmental foot print and high operational reliability. The solution enables lower material footprint, as the functionality of a breaker and disconnector are merged into one single unit. Which in turn reduces land acquistion costs for both greenfield and brownfield investment projects. Vattenfall Eldistribution defines Disconnecting circuit breakers (DCB) in this RFI according to IEC 62271-108. The Request for Information (RFI) is an important activity aimed at fostering competition within this product category. It provides insight into how we as a customer can stimulate product development among equipment manufacturers. We are aiming to sign a framework agreement with several suppliers. However, we are flexible on alternative business models (see L.20)
